On July 15th 2011, to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the foundation stones being laid, the National Library of Wales held a cwtsh (hug in Welsh) around the building. After speeches by the Librarian and the President of the National Library there was a rendition of the Welsh National Anthem (Land of My Fathers) in Welsh.
