One again, the Job Listing site CareerBuilder has release their latest list of "The Most Unbelievable Excuses for Calling in Sick" made in conjunction with The Harris Poll.

Noteworthy excuses included: 

"I just put a casserole in the oven" and "I got stuck in the blood pressure machine at the grocery store and couldn't get out" and "My plastic surgery needed some 'tweaking' to get it just right," and "I caught my uniform  on fire by putting it in the microwave to dry."

But my personal favorite was, "I woke up in a good mood and didn't want to ruin it." 

While some of these excuses are funny, there is nothing funny about getting fired for calling in with a fake excuse and getting busted for it. A whopping 18% of employers say they fired a worker for calling in with a fake excuse. That's nearly one in five! Oh, a word to the wise, if you are hung over from attending a bachelor's party and gave a whopper of an excuse for not showing up to work the next day, resist the temptation of posting pictures of the party on Facebook. 

Oh, speaking of excuses, I have to cut this video short because I'm being called into the Oval office to give confidential advice to a high profile politician as to how he should handle some embarrassing news about a home video questioning his legal U.S. citizenship. A video just surfaced from the midwife who delivered this hope and change agent into the world, from his home in Kenya.  I've got to come up with a great excuse for this one-- Don't want to see this guy get fired!
