As tension grows around protesters camps, the EU still considers reconciliation The journalist Ashraf Khalil, who covers since the beginning the uprising in Egypt, analyses the situation in Caïro, as tension grows between the Authorities and the pro-Morsi protesters. According to him, the intervention of the security forces is solely a matter of days, the question being whether the interim political regime will intervene or wait for the end of the sanctified period of Ramadan. At the same time, the European Union diplomats still believe in the possibility of reconciliation between the protesters and the regime. Bernardino Leon, an envoy of Catherine Ashton's has remained in the country encouraging both parties to settle. However, Ashraf Khalil says no evidence has been made of his role and actions to help the negotiations.
