The search continues for five people who escaped from the Immigration Detention Centre in Aripo on Thursday night. Reports say at around 11:30 pm a party of officers attached to the Arima Criminal Investigations Department (CID), received a report of escaped detainees and visited the Centre to conduct enquiries. The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service said the officers received valuable information about how the detainees escaped and immediately launched a manhunt. The escapees have been identified as Krishna Bailey, a 22-year-old Jamaican national Ryan Badal, a 23-year-old Guyanese national and three Venezuelan nationals; 24-year-old Rodney Noel Reyes Mendoza, 27-year-old Jose Luis Ramirez Yanez and 32-year-old Luis Carlos Sifontes. Minister of National Security and Communications Stuart Young says the matter continues to be investigated.
