The human eye detects light and converts it into electro chemical impulses in neurons. Higher functioning eyes use a diaphram to control the intensity of light and a series of adjustable lenses to form an image.The image is then converted into a series of electrical signals which are sent to the brain through a series of complex neural pathways that connect the eye via the optical nerve to the visual cortex as well as other areas of the brain.
