Iraqi oil minister arrives in Vienna ahead of OPEC meeting

(4 Dec 2018) Iraqi oil minister Thamir Ghadhban said it was "too early" to say whether OPEC (Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries) would cut production and by how much. Ghadbhan spoke upon arrival at his hotel in Vienna, but declined to any further comments. Representatives of oil-producing nations will hold a highly anticipated meeting on Thursday in Vienna, with analysts predicting that they will agree on a cut of at least one million barrels a day in an effort to bolster prices. Saudi Oil Minister Khalid Al-Falih and Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak are expected to arrive on Wednesday for a preparatory meeting ahead of the 175th OPEC meeting.
