Illegal Wildlife Trade - RZSS Conservation Projects - Great days out for a good cause

The illegal wildlife trade is an increasing problem for the conservation of species worldwide. Species such as rhinos for example, are being poached for their horns at an alarming rate. The RZSS has partnered with a specialist forensics organization called TRACE. Together we are using wildlife forensics to assist with the law enforcement. Through DNA sequencing and profiling it is possible to identify both the species, and even the individual, from which a piece of horn or ivory has come from. Through more effective law enforcement it is hoped that not only will more criminals be caught but that will also act as an increasing deterrent to future poaching activities.
