Thousands of tons of polony and other cold meats will be sent to dump sites following the deadly Listeriosis outbreak. Health Minister Aaron Motsoaledi and the National Institute of Communicable Diseases - NICD on Sunday announced that the source of the present outbreak was an Enterprise Foods facility in Polokwane. Listeria has also been was traced to another Enterprise facility in Germiston on the East Rand, and a Rainbow chicken facility in the Free State. Since then a massive recall of all products identified with the listeriosis outbreak has been underway. These products then have to be disposed of, but how can this be done safely without putting people at risk.
