UN committee on the rights of the child meets SA delegation in Geneva

A meeting between delegates from the South African government and the UNs Committee on the Rights of the Child get underway in Geneva, Switzerland today. It aims to provide an opportunity to address pressing issues on the wellbeing of children in South Africa. The meeting will be of particular interest to the Alternate Report Coalition-Children's Rights South Africa, an alliance driven by eleven leading groups on children's rights in the country. This comes amid escalating violent crime and abuse of children in the country. Last week the nation was horrified by the death of 15 month old toddler Asheeqa Scott due to fatal child abuse.
