An unusual crop disease has attacked black pepper plantation at Nirankal-Ponda incurring a major loss of produce. According to Agriculture Department this decease namely ‘Wilt’ disease attacks the leaves first and subsequently the plant. Farmers claim that they had a pepper produce of around 500 Kgs during last season, while they doubt that this season would fetch them not more than 50 kgs.
