Metal Detecting Finds 1.11.11 - Silver and a Ring

Whilst working in Newcastle, I got an early finished so launched myself into a local park for a quick hour of metal detecting with my Minelab Etrac. I was using a Detech SEF 18" x 15" coil so I headed into the middle of the field away from all the modern rubbish dropped on the footpaths. I will return and have a good session here as I quickly found over a dozen coins which were mostly pre-decimal including a nice 1921 Geroge V shilling and a large unidentified ring. A good day with my 11" coil and my new 8" x 6" coil for the contaminated parts should produce a good haul, so stay tuned for more videos of finds from this site. I told my wife that I would find hammered silver coins before the end of the year and I've found everything but, so the pressure is on. Expect a video of hammered silver soon as I'm going to lay siege to the local ploughed fields to complete my quest since I hardly ever get time to go on the club digs.
