Globally, we are facing a chronic health crisis: we are living longer yet we are getting sicker. Karen discusses how assessing our waste products can help address these costly healthcare issues. She also envisions 'true' healthcare as a system that uses a holistic approach with preventative functional medicine at the forefront. Karen works in the healthcare industry as a Functional Medicine Naturopath and Occupational Therapist. Her roles have been in both clinical and management positions with the overall aim of bringing wellness and ease to people with long-term illnesses. She has post-graduate studies in gut health and its relationship to chronic disease. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
