Medics in Gilgil Sub County have expressed concern over the increase in eye diseases among the elderly with the problem partly attributed to lack of health facilities. An unusually high number of patients have gone blind while others continue to suffer poor vision which bars them from carrying out their routine activities. In the sub-county it has emerged that one village has close to 600 elderly people suffering from various forms of eye disease. This came up when Lions sight first eye hospital conducted a free medical camp to residents of Langalanga village organized by Gilgil MP Martha Wangari.
