Our Koi Pond emerging from a long, long winter. The fish took a long time coming around and are still only active when there is food in the water, or it's the warmest part of the day. I caught Creamsicle pushing his head out of the water to eat plants the other day so as soon as the water temperature stays a bit higher they will be ready for another growth explosion. Experts tell me the Koi do not grow when they are in hibernation but I ca tell you that they are a good quarter inch larger than when I last saw them 6 months ago. Not the rate of growth I saw in the previous 6 months of warm weather but still significant growth. In fact I have opted not to get another Koi because before I know it my small pond will have 2 monsters in it! I am looking forward to relaxing by the pond this summer with my aquatic buddies.
