Pune twins, a combination of WDM-3D # 11225 and WDM-3A # 18688 speeding & honking with Pune Junction/PUNE - Jammu Tawi/JAT 11077 Jhelum Express. The Jhelum Express is a daily train from Pune, the Cultural Capital of Maharashtra to Jammu Tawi, the Winter Capital of Jammu and Kashmir; in North India. The train is strategically important; as is connects the Headquarters of the Southern Command of the Indian Army, Pune, with an important border city. The Jhelum Express is one of the oldest trains originating from Pune. This train was started on 1-January-1977. It was the first train connecting Pune to the Capital City of New Delhi. The train was initially started for the Indian Army. The train was given the name "Jhelum" as the River Jhelum is a notable river in Jammu and Kashmir. Currently this train takes 60 halts out of 305 intermediate stations between Pune Junction and Jammu Tawi. It takes 40h 40m to cover distance of 2176 km with an average running speed of 53.51 Km/ph. On other hand its counterpart 11078 takes 63 halts and 40h 50m to cover same distance with average running speed of 53.29 Km/ph. This train start with WDM-3A/3Dfrom Pune shed which gets reversed at Daund Junction and carries it till Manmad Junction. From Manmad it gets BSL or GZB WAP-4 till Ludhiana Junction. After that it again gets WDM-3A of LDH or TKD shed. With the doubling and electrification of Daund - Manmad section and Jalandhar - Pathankot - Jammu Tawi section, the Jhelum Express is expected to run faster; with comparatively less running time. Moreover, with the completion of the Jammu Tawi - Udhampur - Katra section in 2013, the train is also expected to be extended to Katra.
