Sorry about the quality. I will try to do better next time. At least it's not all jerky like the Wai Xing Zhan Shi 2 videos. ^^;;

This is the leaked Famicom Disk System prototype of the first Zelda game. I'm using VirtuaNES to run it.

The second quest is far from finished and the dungeons are just empty labyrinths that go off the bounds of the map. Eventually you will become trapped like this.

I believe in even the finished game all of the dungeon rooms were on a single map? So here the individual dungeons are not yet separated. You will also run into some unused rooms eventually. The overword map for the second quest is also exactly the same as the first at this point. So all the dungeon locations will be the same.

More info can be found on The Cutting Room Floor: https://tcrf.net/The_Cutting_Room_Floor

The game is in Japanese but I don't see why anyone who has already played the finished version should have a problem. The first file will let you play the second quest with the wooden sword, small shield, life potion, blue ring, recorder and bombs. You also get some rupees, 17 keys, six hearts and one triforce piece. If you play the recorder you will be warped to the first dungeon entrance.

The other two save files look to be from the first quest. I haven't tried them yet.

If you can read Japanese you will see some text differences here and there.

Remember that you need to flip the FDS disk image over to side B at the title screen. Otherwise nothing will happen. To do this in VirtuaNES just click Edit and select Disk. Then Disk1 SideB. If the game is running too fast check to see if DirectDraw is set to Sync drawing (Window). Click Options then select Graphics and tick off the appropriate box.
