This race is Heat 3 of the Division 1 (D1) Girls from the 2018 CIF-ss (Southern Section) Cross Country Prelims meet held on November 10 at the Riverside Cross Country Course. The course is 3 miles. The Prelims meet decides the 24 teams and up to 15 individuals in each division that will compete in the Finals meet held on the following weekend.

Commentary: Impressive wire-to-wire win by Mira Costa frosh Dalia Frias, who places 8th at State. Maria Hernandez is 15m back the entire way, hanging tough at the end, surviving a strong final 200 by Hailey Kirsch. Hernandez is right behind Frias (again) at State (9th). The West Ranch frosh in 4th also makes State (20th).
Team Mira Costa will finish 3rd at Finals and again at State.
