The power of storytelling lies in its ability to transform the individual and its capacity to work as an agent of change within society. Storytelling creates the lens through which we view the world and defines the reality we live within. Stories open us up to possibility and place constraints upon our actions. Stephani is executive director of the nonprofit StoryArk. She also serves as executive producer and host of StoryArk’s radio podcasts, including Voices in the Valley; HUSH, HUSH Jr; and Carnation, and publishes The Boom Site, a youth literary magazine. Stephani works on literary art in video, audio, web, print, and other media. She also writes scripts and produces short films. Stephani has worked as a marketing director, English teacher, and director of student programming for non-profit educational programs. She graduated from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, with a focus on journalism, American culture and secondary education. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
