Newport firefighters help families in need for the holidays

NEWPORT, Ky. (WKRC) - Beyond the call, that's the name of a program run by local firefighters.

For the last 24 years, Newport firefighters and donors from the community have worked to make Christmas better for families having a tough time.

This year seven families with a total of 24 children are enjoying help from the first responders.

The families will have a feast and get enough food for the entire holiday week.

To date, the Beyond the Call program in Newport has served 99 families.
