Manzamo is situated on the northwest Okinawa coast, not far from the picturesque beaches of Onna Village, a simple, idyllic location with a fantastic view and plenty of Okinawan history.

The name Manzamo stems from the original Okinawan Hogen dialect, meaning 'big enough for 10,000 men to sit on this field by the cliffs.' It's true, as 10,000 people can sit there, as referred to in historical accounts of Okinawan songs and literature. Historically, Yoshia Chiru, and young Okinawan poet, is said to have felt the special inspiration necessary to write a poem for the then-Ryukyuan king. Her writing style has been praised as valuable to Okinawan literature and history as haiku is to mainland Japan, and a monument has been erected at Manzamo to pay homage to her contributions to Okinawan culture.

Also referred to as The Elephant's Nose at Manzamo, the Manzamo is a broad, flat piece of land sitting atop coral, covered with a plush layer of vivid green grasses. The craggy cliffs form the elephant's nose. Standing on the edge, the view is breathtaking, with outlying islands of Ie, Minna and Sesoko visible, while to the north, the mountains of the Motobu peninsula are in view. To the south lies Cape Zampa.

沖縄での観光ルートで必ずと言ってもいいほど、含まれている万座毛です。
　万座毛は景勝地として素晴らしい場所ですが、その名にも歴史が刻まれています。

　恩納村字恩納の西海岸にある万座毛は琉球石灰岩の海岸地形と約100ｍ四方に広がる自然の芝生の広場によって構成されています。18世紀の前半、時の琉球国王尚敬王（在位1713～51）が北山巡視の途次この地に立ち寄り「万人を座らせるに足る」と称賛したことから「万座毛」と名付けられたと言われます。また、尚敬王御幸のさいに王一行を歓迎して詠まれた「波の声もとまれ風の声もとまれ　首里天加那志美御機拝がま」（恩納ナベ）の即興歌は有名ですが、この歌碑が万座毛入口のモクマオウ林の中にたっています。
　万座毛から眺める雄大な東支那海の景観は、コバルトブルーに彩られ、沖縄の自然の美しさをいかんなく発揮し、県下有数の景勝地となっています。
