At a press conference on the agenda of the G8 summit due to take place later this week in Italy, European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso found himself defending his candidacy for a second term as Commission President. In Stockholm today, the European parliament group leaders are discussing the issue with the Swedish EU Presidency. The Swedish Prime Minister said on Saturday that there would be no vote on Barroso during the July session of the European Parliament in Strasbourg.
