How this goofy refrigeration compressor runs

I found this compressor and took it apart. It is off a small commercial refrigeration unit. Note the way the crankshaft transfers motion to reciprocating motion. Looks like a very complicated way to make a compressor. I will disassemble it and look at how the parts work together in another video.
