The Sacred Monkey Sanctuary in Ubud, Bali, is a highlight of a visit to this region. Very central to the town of Ubud, it is easy to get to on foot. It is very well organized and features many free roaming monkeys who are hungry for bananas! The monkeys are often cheeky, and are not subtle when it comes to jumping on people. They will snatch anything they think may contain food (plastic bags are banned from this park). Three of them crept up behind me and tried to snatch my camera case, and I had a job getting it back! The Ubud monkeys can bite, and some people found them a bit aggressive, but if you follow the rules you should have fun in this park. The Ubud Monkey Forest is well worth a visit.
