This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. Rasars fast-paced spoken-word challenges music industry norms and encourages us to live in the here and now.

Hip hop and spoken word poet Rasar delivers lyrical content teeming with real world wisdom and style. To experience Rasar is to experience an artist in continuous metamorphosis: “In 1998 I wrote my first rhyme. In 1999 I realized that I’m an emcee. I first chose the name Castro, then Random. Later I became Random Chaos, then Random Abiladeze. That man died. I now give you: Rasar.” – From “Death of A Poet.”
Hailing from Sacramento, Rasar has twice won the Hip Hop Congress’ “Got Spit?” and Stanford University’s “Battle of the Bay.” Promoting healthy life choices among youth, Rasar supports numerous educational institutions, Youth Speaks, Youth Noise, County Peer Court, and more.
His album, “The Dream Is Over,” weaves dreams, death, transformation, transcendence, rebirth and consciousness into a fluid thought.

About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
