The population of donkeys is getting decimated as demand for donkey products increases. The donkey industry is reported to be growing faster in Asia with the need to formalize donkey trade in South Africa. The North West province is known for having a large population of donkeys which are often brutally killed and their skins and hides sold for a song in the black market.
