Attorney Ramesh Lawrence Maharaj says Government and Parliament must reconsider the provisions of the Criminal Division and District Criminal and Traffic Courts Act 2018. At a Media Conference on Wednesday, he said steps must be taken for it not to be proclaimed. He said lawyers have a role in the public education of society by explaining the impact of legislation or Governmental action. The Act was assented to by the President, but has not yet proclaimed.
