This amusing Irish song was written in the 19th century. The Zoological Gardens were situated in the Phoenix Park in Dublin, and like Monto in a previous song, this area was somewhat notorious as a pick-up area for 'Ladies of the Night'. I think I first heard it sung by Ronnie Drew of the Dubliners.
