Made by Edgar & myself, we decided to use skateboarding as our lab rat and try to observe how the body is used alongside the wooden board. There is a type of symbiotic relationship between the athlete and this piece of wood. At a certain point it seems that the board is part of his/her body, even if it's not attached at all. It's interesting to look at it from another angle. When falling or missing a trick, I believe its like witnessing a break-up of sorts, all that was in such a perfect symbiotic relationship...comes to an end...but only to begin again. The question here is who's really attached to who? The board to the athlete? ...or the athlete to the board ?
