Beata Petkowa, born in Bulgaria, raised in Hungary and the Netherlands, and now living in Poland, Beata Petkowa is a 18-year-old student at the Batory High School in Warsaw. In 2013 she received a prestigious scholarship from Poland of Youth Foundation crowned with a Project Management Institute certificate. The scholarship allowed her to develop and implement her own social project aimed at introducing cross-generational communication in Warsaw.
Under her leadership, "Warszawiacy Międzypokoleniowo" received the award for the Best Social Project of Year 2014 and has gained wide recognition among the city's citizens. Her talk tackles the issue of how crucial it is to shift focus from blurred and uncertain future to acting here and now.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
