So, ongoing damage, or OGD, has been a Dungeon Hunter Champions staple since launch.  The most desirable champions in the game prior to Update 4 had OGD.  I mean you had Siege Towers like Eleanor and Caroline, the Time Keepers Manas and Sharma and who could forget the Snake ladies, especially the DARK SNAKE LADY Chanxia.  These champions were amazing because of their OGD gave them utility everywhere in the game.  I never would have beat ultimate Blitz without Manas’ OGD.  That was before…

Now post Update 4 I see people calling RIP on Dark Snake Ladies because of how bad the OGD change is.  Now, I’ll be the first salt throwing player when it comes to the OGD change, but let’s clear up some confusion about the new OGD before the rioting starts because there’s more going on here than a nerf.  Let’s look at the patch notes first so we understand what we are looking at.

I’m going to use my Eleanor as an example.  I built her up to the maximum attack accuracy I could while keeping her on adept precise.  All attack % focused subs, All Atk % gear.  She has 85% accuracy and 2,383 attack.  As you can see in the Update 4 patch notes each stack of Eleanor’s OGD will do 200% of her attack in damage per second.  Without adding an attack synergy trait to the team this means she will do 4,766 damage per stack per second.  Post Update 4 the OGD stacks last 7 seconds so each stack should be a guaranteed 33,362 damage total.  Oh, but now Eleanor stacks upto 10 OGD debuffs so this is potentially 333,620 damage total with JUST her 3rd skill.   Nobody does that much damage in the game.  Seems super OP right? Let’s test it out and see.
