The job of the setter in volleyball isn’t an easy one. They need to be ready with quick movements to react to the action around them and serve up a successful set. By being in neutral on the volleyball court, setters can increase their chances of a successful set and their ability to quickly distribute the ball to various locations. Setters will want to be in a good position with their hips open to the court, facing away from the net and ready to receive the pass. When the pass comes in, their hands will need to go high early. Taking the volleyball high allows for easy distribution to the outside or toward the back.
