ESA’s Aeolus satellite was successfully deployed into a Sun-synchronous orbit (SSO) approximately 54 minutes after being launched by an Arianespace Vega launch vehicle (Flight VV12) from the Vega Launch Complex (SLV) in Kourou, French Guiana, on 22 August 2018, at 21:20 UTC (18:20 local time).European Space Agency’s Atmospheric Dynamics Mission Aeolus is the first space mission to acquire profiles of the wind on a global scale. The observations will improve the accuracy of numerical weather and climate prediction and advance our understanding of tropical dynamics and processes relevant to climate variability.
