Flash floods wreak havoc in Pietermaritzburg

Mop-up operations are underway in Pietermaritzburg after a freak storm wreaked havoc late yesterday afternoon. KwaZulu-Natal has been in the grips of a heatwave in the last few days. In some areas houses were damaged, roads and business premises flooded and trees uprooted. A fourteen-year-old girl was apparently killed after struck by lightning in the KwaDukuza area.
