An explosion occurred following a chemical spill at a school in Kampung Pandan, Malaysia, yesterday. Nineteen students and two teachers from SMK Datuk Lokman experienced nausea as a result of inhaling toxic fumes that resulted from the blast, which happened when a private contractor was transporting eight barrels of chemicals that had been used in the school's science labs.

One of the barrels tipped over while being loaded onto a truck and resulted in the spillage, which caused the explosion and a fire. The fire was put out soon after. A Hazmat team was summoned to the scene and the school was evacuated.
They were sent to the hospital and given outpatient treatment.

The barrels contained 229 types of chemicals, including zinc oxide, ammonia and magnesium.
