BAFTA boss: “I’m happy to be number two to the Oscars”

BAFTA Chief Executive Amanda Berry sat down with London Live’s Entertainment Producer, Simon Thompson, to discuss the role of the BAFTA’s and what their place is during the awards. Speaking about the frequent comparisons made between the BAFTAs and the Oscars, Ms Berry said: “It is very different and the fact that the ‘British’ is in there I think is the important thing because that’s what makes us unique. “The Oscars are the biggest films award ceremony in the world - I’m happy to be number two to the Oscars.” She also discussed by 2015 is an ‘incredible year’ for British film and British actors. Speaking on the awards this year, Ms Berry says it’s a ‘wide open race’ this year to see which films come out on top. There’s also talk of the ‘deep, dark secrets’ of the BAFTA process and how the winners names are kept firmly under wraps by multiple teams of security.
