According to TMZ, the 57-year-old TV star was taken to hospital on Sunday after her therapist and lawyer realized she needed help and was allegedly in the midst of a mental breakdown.

Heather Locklear has reportedly been placed on 5150 psychiatric hold.

According to TMZ, the 57-year-old TV star was taken to hospital on Sunday after her therapist and lawyer realized she needed help and was allegedly in the midst of a mental breakdown.

The Daily Mail reported that she had been placed on a 5150 hold after allegedly beating up her boyfriend Chris Heisser, but sources have told TMZ this was false, claiming Heisser was not in the house at the time. 

The troubled actress was recently arrested in June, after consuming a bottle of tequila and crashing her car into a pylon at her California home. 

She then attacked the police when they arrived and was arrested and booked into Ventura County Jail on police battery charges.

Locklear was released the following day but rushed to hospital six hours later after allegedly taking an overdose.

She was then placed on 5250 psychiatric hold, which includes a five-day detox as well as mental evaluation, following being involuntarily held for 72 hours under a section 5150 hold. 

In September, she shared a message about addiction and recovery on social media.

"Addiction is ferocious and will try to take you down. Recovery is the best revenge"
