John discusses von neumann vs biologically inspired computing architectures - how the science of connectomics & neuroinformatics will help inspire further developments in AI.

He also discusses the resiliency of collectives of people (citing 'The Rational Optimist' by Matt Ridley).

Game theory is brought up - one of the meta-golden rules that most societies learn is to 'trust, but verify' - where if someone gets caught cheating they get marginalised, not kicked out of the tribe, to see if they change their behaviour, and if they do, then they are slowly accepted back into the tribe - societies that don't do this loose a sense of resiliency, end up with homogenized societies that don't learn - in a sense we want rule breakers that challenge our ideas, to help the game theories mature - to be more resilient to disruption.

Genomics, proteomics and connectomics.
