Does the Nordic model still work? 
LKY School invites H.E. Berit Basse, Ambassador of Denmark to Singapore; H.E. Tormod Cappelen Endresen, Ambassador of Norway to Singapore; and H.E. Håkan Jevrell, Ambassador of Sweden to Singapore, for a panel discussion on the topic.

The panel discussion starts with Associate Dean Donald Low (Discussion Chair) welcoming the Nordic Ambassadors by suggesting that Singapore references the Nordic Model from time to time and that we can all learn from the Nordic Model in areas such as welfare, governance, healthcare, childcare, etc, followed by the Nordic ambassadors each sharing their views on various areas.

H.E. Berit Basse's sharing focused on Denmark's economic growth and how to lead a green transition to becoming the world's first fossil free country.

H.E. Tormod Cappelen Endresen talks about the role of trust in society; Norway's oil management and how falling oil prices may dramatically affect the funding of the welfare state.

H.E. Håkan Jevrell discusses on Sweden’s approach on innovation, entrepreneurship and how to invent tomorrow’s world.

All three topics underline the question on how the region can refine its welfare model in order to compete globally and still be socially coherent.
