Anyone can experience domestic violence. It Does Not Discriminate against any Gender, Age, or Ability. Domestic violence is not a one-time experience. It is an insidious problem that permeates all through our culture. It has been recorded that 18,500,000 mental health care visits are due to intimate partner violence. 1 in 4 women experience this abuse and 1 in 7 men experience severe violence at the hands of an intimate partner. 85% of intimate partner violence victims are women. A woman is beaten to death every 9 seconds in the U.S. It takes, on average, 7 times for a woman to leave their domestic abuser in finality. Most of this is because of financial abuse and control. Most cannot leave because they have nowhere to go and no funds to leave. 40-45% of women in domestic abuse relationships also experience sexual assault and/or rape. There IS support. There is a way to leave, recover, heal and lead a life full of healthy loving relationships.
