Sometimes known as the "folk strum" the money pattern is the strumming pattern that most beginners should work towards. It is one of the more musical patterns in the beginner's strum pattern arsenal but doesn't require advanced techniques to accomplish, just a consistent swing or "pendulum" strum. In theory terms, it can be played with this pendulum strum approach by not striking the strings on beat three but continuing to swing your arm so that you are still swinging your arm down on the 1 2 3 and 4 and swinging up on the "&"s. Intermediate and advanced players can still use this pattern as presented here and build on it. It still sounds fresh even when played for a long time and in different songs.
