http://thegeekgroup.org/ - When we moved to the new Galactic Headquarters in Grand Rapids, the large Main Demonstration Hall had a Rock Maple wood floor. As lovely as this was, it was not durable for the kind of work we do in this room. So one of the first main tasks we did was rip out the old floor. It was stored in Studio A and ended up filling the entire room. Since this room was destined to be our Live Studio Set, we needed to get the wood out and organised. The wood itself was extremely high quality and we did not want to just scrap it. So over the space of about a month, volunteers came long and cut the planks up into shorter sticks. The bulk of it will be used by Moose in her CNC wood arts. But we have also sold small quantities to local woodturners and woodworkers. The wood has now been neatly stored down in our robotics lab where it is not in the way and easily accessible. Watch the whole process as a team of motivated volunteers turn chaos into organisation! Studio A is now well on the way to being a completed room and you can see more on that here soon.
