Corn Prices Rise Following Floods in US Midwest

After weeks of excessive rain and devastating floods in the central U.S., corn prices surged to a new record this week, hitting nearly $8 a bushel. The grain is also in high demand these days because it is used for making the alcohol fuel additive called ethanol, which is highly subsidized in the United States and mandated for use as an additive in gasoline. VOA's Greg Flakus went to the corn fields of western Iowa to learn more about the situation and filed this report.
