For our 10th anniversary year, we decided to go BIG!

One of our big ideas was to give away a whole year of dance classes to one of our students. All year long people entered to win knowing that the actual drawing would be on the very last class of the year. By the time that moment came, the excitement and anticipation were wound up to the maximum as you can see here.

Clearly it's a big deal to win a year's worth of dance classes. But why was this particular winner such a big deal? As you heard in the video, Dr. Karen is one of a very small handful of people who knew us before we even had such a thing as FUNKMODE and she's been riding this train the entire time. She helped us gain the confidence to get started. She put her kids in our classes. She participated in our shows. She may be our number one supporter and she is DEFINITELY part of the FUNKMODE family.

And, when she's not getting her Hip Hop on, she's busy loving and caring for animals as the Director of Veterinary Services at the Oakland Zoo. How cool is that?

We are so happy to have Dr. Karen with us for another year and, as you heard in the video, we can't think of anyone more deserving. Congratulations to Dr. Karen!
