Union government on Sunday abandoned its attempt to push through ordinances on anti-corruption legislation. The Cabinet, however, did approve inclusion of jats in the central OBC list, a move that aims to assuage the vocal and influential community with a sizeable presence in states like Rajasthan, Haryana, UP, Delhi and Punjab. Seemandhra region will have 'special category' status for five years, according to Sunday's decision of the Union Cabinet which also approved two amendments to the just-passed Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Bill to address the concerns of the respective regions.
