Honduran President vows to serve "full term"

United Nations, New York, 30 June 2009 - The President of Honduras, José Manuel Zelaya Rosales says all of the country's mass media have been censored. Mr Rosales claims he has "no way to get through" to the people of Honduras.

Speaking at a press conference at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, Mr Rosales said it was paradoxical that he has been able to address the General Assembly and the nations of the world in recent days, but remains unable to speak to his own people.

During a plenary meeting today, the UN General Assembly moved to condemn this weekend's coup d'état in Honduras. Member states are now calling for the restoration of the democratically-elected President and constitutional Government.

According to media reports, President José Manuel Zelaya Rosales was ousted by the military on Sunday, hours before a referendum was slated to be held on changing the Honduran constitution.
