England's 1966 football team, winning the world cup by Stephen Quick - http://www.splinteredstudios.com

To celebrate South Africa World Cup 2010 I decided I wanted to paint a Football based painting, but not knowing if Rooney, Lampard etc will go down in history, I decided to paint the time when England ruled the world (Football wise)...... Oh and for the sake of keyword on the search ill say it....Soccer Soccer Soccer ewww i feel dirty!

So ......

The greatest moment in English football, 1966, skipper Bobby Moore lifting the Jules Rimet Trophy high on the shoulders of the rest of the England team, including hatrick hero Jeff Hurst.

I wanted the attention to be on Moore and making that famous red shirt pained in red contrasts with the monotone background and makes Moore and the shirt stand out.

The painting took quite awhile properly about 3 / 4 days; having multiple people in a painting means the background is faces, and makes it more time consuming. The painting is in Acrylic paint on 30 x 30 stretched canvas.
