2014 Niue Endangered Species Black Rhinoceros 1 oz. Silver Proof. Mintage of 2000. Minted at the New Zealand Mint; the “Minters of the South Pacific”. The only privately owned mint in New Zealand. The mint produces collector and bullion coins for a number of pacific nations, including Fiji, the Cook Islands, Niue and Tuvalu. The coin comes in a cool rhino-skin textured box. Inside is a miniature crate labeled "Endangered Species" and "This Side Up. The crate is so creatively done! The attention to detail make it a great presentation case! The case/crate even has puttied nail holes where a real sized crate would have them. The colorful COA, is in the crate with the coin. The coin depicts an endangered Black Rhinoceros as it dips its head to drink from a water hole. The scene is mirrored in the finely engraved water. The background is an African grassland landscape with the sun in the African sky.
