(12 Dec 2018) The head of political betting at British betting agency Ladbrokes suggested that Prime Minister Theresa May is 90 percent likely to win a vote of no-confidence against her on Wednesday. He added that betting for the next Conservative Party leader has also been a big market for the agency. Former Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson is the top runner and ex-Brexit Secretary Dominic Raab being the next favourite. A British government minister said May has told restive lawmakers she will step down as the Conservative Party's leader before the next national election, due in 2022. May addressed party backbenchers in private talks ahead of the no-confidence vote on her leadership taking place Wednesday evening. A promise to make way for a new Conservative leader would be a way to win over wavering lawmakers ahead of the vote that could end her leadership. May has not said what she will do if, as many expect, Britain's Brexit crisis triggers an early election.
