South African artist, born on 14 November 1931. He started his career as a member of the group “Die Ruiters”, before going solo. Initially he only sang covers of well-known English songs, but eventually focused more on the Afrikaans language, even writing a number of the songs he recorded, e.g. “Somerreën" and “Droomland”. This song was first released on the album "My Lied My Teer Minnelied" in 1970, and then on "Gee My Jou Hand” in 1978.
