After President Donald Trump called upon owners of NFL teams to fire players who protested during the national anthem, more than 200 players protested anyway. 

The NFL protest originates with Colin Kaepernick, the former San Francisco 49ers quarterback, who chose to kneel during the Star Spangled Banner during a game in September 2016. But he's not the first major athlete to protest. CBC Sports reporter Rob Pizzo counts down five of them.
